Sunshine is Coming…
After a long Midwest winter, there’s always a moment when the sunlight starts to feel a little warmer. The days stretch a little longer, and suddenly you can imagine spring again. Warmer weather returning, flowers starting, and fresh energy.
That feeling — soft sunshine and new beginnings — is exactly what inspired my Spring Bee Collection.
Why Bees, you may ask?
Bees have always felt like the perfect little symbol for handmade work. They are tiny creators — working patiently, piece by piece, to build something beautiful and sweet. In a lot of ways, sewing feels the same. I love seeing the bees come and go from the garden, growing their own homes, as well as feeding the earth around us. I like to think an extremely small amount of my sewing will someday feel the same way, nourishing to all that have an item I have made.
I have been looking forward to making this collection since I started thinking about it back in December ‘25. I really was missing warmer weather and a cozy feeling of Spring Awakening time. For me and my family, spring means opening the windows and letting in fresh air and fresh beginnings. My cats go crazy over all the new smells drifting in from outside. It’s also the perfect time for cleaning, refreshing the house, and welcoming a new season.
For my Spring Bee Collection, I hand picked a few fabrics that not only have that Bee feeling, but just the feeling of Sunshine all together. I’ve been slowly working on this collection at my sewing table — cutting bright honey-colored fabrics, quilting soft book sleeves, and adding little details that make each piece feel cozy and special. I used a cute small business (thelittlequilt.com) to get little labels for my book sleeves! They are absolutely adorable and well designed, and just add the perfect touch to them!
As far as releasing the collection, I have decided to release it at the Spring Craftacular Market in Richfield on April 12th! During this time I am not taking any custom orders as I would like to focus all my free time to sewing this collection for you. But I will reopen custom orders as of Monday April 6th right before the collection officially launches.
The collection will include quilted book sleeves, bookmarks, and a few other cozy handmade pieces designed to bring a little sunshine to your reading time. I can’t wait to share this sunny little collection with you all and bring a bit of handmade warmth into the start of spring. <3
